Mionetto S.p.A., Italy

A 120-year passion for Prosecco

From family business to joint stock company

In 1887 in Valdobbiadene in the Veneto region of northern Italy, Francesco Mionetto founds a company which dedicates itself to traditional methods of producing the fine sparkling wines that the area is famous for. The small winery uses classic Prosecco grapes to produce its products – Frizzante and Spumante wines of the very finest quality. Over time, the family firm becomes a modern company, but it never loses sight of its traditions and quality. This pays off: A good 100 years after its foundation, the company exports its products all around the world. In 2000, it is restructured as a joint stock company.

From Italy to the USA

Marking the new millennium, Mionetto extends its range of products. In 2001, it takes over the winery Amistani Guarda, famous for its still wines from the Montello region. In 2002, the company acquires Wisco with its brands La Pieve, Pisani and GR Brotto. Having created a subsidiary across the Atlantic in 1998, Mionetto USA Inc. is soon a leader on the US sparkling wine market. In 2008, Henkell & Co. joins Mionetto and integrates the company into its Group structure in 2009, which means that the US subsidiary now distributes Henkell Trocken.

Quality ensures leadership

Located in the heart of the Veneto, Mionetto benefits from the EU’s new Prosecco directive in 2010, which introduces strictly protected designations of origin and reinforces quality control measures. Today, the company is synonymous with a range of high quality sparkling and still wines, spirits and liqueurs, products which are well known to connoisseurs all over Europe, North America and Australia.
