Henkell Trocken in 'Brands of the Century' Handbook
Nov 11, 2009
Brand Award for 110 years of quality, joie de vivre and brand history
On 15 October, the “Deutsche Standard” publishing company presented the 16th (revised) edition of the ‘Brands of the Century – Classics of Brand Communication’ Handbook at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Over 50 representatives of long-established German brands, including renowned names such as Nivea, Lufthansa, Bahlsen and Mercedes Benz, took part in this event in Frankfurt.
Another of the award-winning brands is Henkell Trocken, Germany’s best-known and most-exported sparkling wine which ensures tingling joie de vivre in over 70 countries of the world.
In distinction to most other brands, Henkell Trocken can look back over a long, sustained history of success. On the one hand, it was one of the first brands to be registered in Germany (in 1898). On the other hand, its forward-looking brand management and the future-oriented advertising campaigns created a higher degree of awareness for brand articles. Thus, Henkell Trocken became the market leader for sparkling wine in 1910 and still holds a firm place on the national and international sparkling wine shelves today.
‘Brands of the Century’ will be available in bookshops from 16 October, as well as on show in Goethe Institutes and German embassies worldwide. In view of the fact that China is this year’s Guest Country at the Book Fair, a small special edition in Chinese is also being published in addition to the English edition.
For the first time this year, all brands represented in the book were honoured with the German Standards Brand Award, which is given by the German Standards editorial staff and Advisory Committee comprising some of Germany’s most renowned brand experts. For Henkell & Co., founded in Mainz in 1832, this award happily coincides with the 100th anniversary of the wine cellars’ move to Henkells-feld, the new head office in Wiesbaden built by architect Paul Bonatz in 1909.
The selection of outstanding cask wines, the knowledge and experience of the cellar master and the highest standards are the three pillars of success of the Henkell family. They ensure the unchanging high quality of Henkell Trocken – the basis for consumer trust in a brand. The portfolio of the family of brands includes Henkell Rosé, Henkell Blanc de Blancs, Henkell Brut, Henkell Halbtrocken and the sparkling wine especially for diabetics, Henkell Dosage Zéro – each a potent and congenial brand in its own right!
